Can I use a Tank Sensor to switch an electric immersion heater?

An OWL Intuition Tank Sensor can only be used for an electric immersion heater if it is used to signal a separate relay (supplied by others) to switch the large electrical load involved. An electrician / heating engineer would be able to advise in this respect.
